A fine large map showing Eastern Europe from Stockholm to Constantinople, with Russia eastward from Perm and south to the Caucasus and Iran. The inset map shows Asiatic Russia with Turkestan.

A. Mevius was a prominent mining engineer and a founder of metallurgy in the Ukraine. From 1887, he taught at the new Kharkov Institute of Technology where he founded its metallurgy department and became its first professor.
