A Cased 54-Bore Percussion Six-Shot Pepperbox Revolver

With fluted barrels engraved with foliage around the muzzles and numbered from '1' to '6' at the breeches, foliate scroll engraved action signed on one side and engraved 'Improved Revolving Pistol' on the other, nipple-shield, bar-hammer and trigger-guard decorated en suite, thumbpiece safety-catch, finely chequered figured rounded butt, stepped ovoidal steel butt-cap with hinged circular butt-trap cover engraved with a flower-head, and vacant silver escutcheon (light pitting overall): in relined and refitted mahogany case, probably original, with copper flask (in poor condition), the inside of the lid with original lining and maker's trade label (damaged), the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle on a shaped brass plate; together with its black leather holster, Birmingham proof marks (2)
