Fossil Fish in Limestone – Framed Mural
Phareodus testis, Diplomystus dentatus, Knightia eocaena
Eocene
Green River Formation, Wyoming
Beautifully preserved 51-million-year-old fossil fish make an attractive natural composition in this mural. The specimens were professionally prepared in the limestone matrix in which they were discovered with the use of pneumatic tools and micro-abrasion, which removed the limestone to uncover the fascinating specimens beneath. The fish are completely original with no restoration. Framed in tropical walnut and fitted with a cleat system for ease of wall mounting. Fish length measuring 19in; overall 41 7/8 x 27 7/8in
