  Parent company Citroën's financial crisis led to Maserati changing hands in 1975, its saviour being Argentine-born carmaker Alessandro De Tomaso. One of the revitalised company's first products was the 'mongrel' Kyalami sports saloon, effectively a revised De Tomaso Longchamp fitted with either a 4.1 or 4.9-litre Maserati V8 engine in place of the original Ford unit; with the larger V8 installed the Kyalmai was a genuine 150mph car. The Longchamp had its origins in the Ghia-styled Deauville saloon of 1970, and used a shortened version of the latter's floor pan and similar, all-independently-suspended running gear. Subtly restyled by Frua and named after South Africa's Kyalami circuit - scene of Pedro Rodriguez's 1967 Formula 1 Grand Prix victory at the wheel of a Cooper-Maserati - the Kyalami made its debut at the 1976 Turin Motor Show. Production continued until 1983, by which time some 190 examples of this most exclusive luxury Gran Turismo had been built.
  
  Well known in Maserati Club circles, this right-hand drive example of one of the rarest of post-war Maseratis has the 4.9-litre V8 engine and automatic transmission. Finished in light blue metallic with Navy Blue leather interior - the perfect colour combination - '0105' has enjoyed only six previous owners and has been in the current vendor's possession since March 2012. This Kyalami benefits from some £12,500 spent on restoration only two years ago and is described by the private vendor as in generally excellent condition. A total of circa 88,000 kilometres (approximately 54,600 miles) is currently displayed on the odometer. Rare and desirable, this beautiful Maserati is offered with a history file containing sundry bills, V5C Registration Certificate, current MoT, etc.
