A good late 19th century French gorge cased grand sonnerie striking and repeating carriage clock

The case with rippled handle over a large glazed inspection panel revealing the large gilt platform and compensated, bi-metallic balance, white rectangular Roman and Arabic enamel dial with spade hands, the twin train movement striking and repeating on a pair of coiled blued steel gongs, with three-position selection lever in the base offering the choice of 'Full striking, silence or quarters'. The backplate stamped and numbered. 17cms (6.75ins) high.
