Footnotes

  • Provenance: Accompanied by a document on headed paper from H. Blairman & Sons, Antiques & Works of Art, 26th & 26C King St, St James's, London. The typed document details the history of Minamoto no Tametomo (1139-1170). Tametomo was known as a very gifted archer who fought in the Hogen Rebellion of 1156. Legend has it that his left arm was some four inches longer than his right which allowed him to bend his bow to a greater depth and send his arrows further than most men.
