A bronze eagle on an en-suite bronze perch
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Constructed in four separate sections, the bird of prey perched with its head lowered, its wings (detachable) outspread, alert and poised, ready to pouch on unsuspecting prey, on a tasselled bronze stand decorated with gilt mounts on the feet; unsigned. Total height: 69cm (27 1/16in) high; the wingspan: 65cm (25 5/8in) across. (8).

- Contrary to the catalogue description this piece is signed on the underside of the stand Settsu Hasegawa Masatane saku (made by Hasegawa Masatane in Settsu Province (present day the southeaster part of Hyōgo and the northern part of Osaka Prefectures).
