Footnotes

  • Hovave Rappaport
Born in 1954 in Kibbutz Bet-Alpha, Israel, Hovave Rappaport graduated from Gilboa School with a major in Art. He moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and began to sculpt with natural stone materials such as marble, granite and onyx. Later, in 1986, he developed a new form of sculpture combining these stones and lighting. His work reveals the inner beauty of the natural stone in a very original way. The basis of much of his work is done by fabricating and polishing slabs from the stones and forming various geometric shapes such as obelisks, cubes and hexagons with the materials. Hovave believes his artwork lends beauty, visual pleasure and a soothing atmosphere to their surroundings. Each of his works is unique and is signed and dated. As a recognized artist in this field, his work is represented by some of the finest galleries in the United States and Japan.
