With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels signed in full in script along the top flat, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened breeches each with engraved pierced platinum plug, foliate scroll engraved tangs each with back-sight, border engraved detented locks and dolphin hammers en suite, the former each with blued safety-catch and inscribed 'Jno. Manton & Son Patent', highly figured half-stocks each carved with a scallop shell on the fore-end, chequered grips each with flat ovoidal pommel set with a foliate engraved silver oval, blued serial numbered trigger-guards en suite, blued trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, blued triggers, no provision for ramrods, and in exceptional original condition: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with original three-way flask covered in red leather, brass ramrod, and associated patch-cutter, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label, the exterior (minor hole and split) with circular flush-fitting brass carrying handle centred on a vacant circular escutcheon, London proof marks
