The case with silvered and gilt-wood columns and mouldings, and inlaid to the front with brass foliate scrolls featuring engraved shaded detailing, the trunk door with panels of cut brass scrolls within borders framing the oval lenticle, on a matching panel base raised on squat bun feet, the hood the 12 inch square brass dial with Indian mask spandrels framing the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half-quarter marks and florid signature between VII and V, with substantial steel minute hand, the matted centre with moon phase and age apertures over the ringed winding squares and chamfered and decorated date aperture, the twin train weight driven movement with square plates united by five knopped and ring turned pillars, the strike train with inside countwheel strike on a bell, the going train with anchor escapement, the pendulum suspended from a typical Ogden rising cock 2.31m (7ft 6ins) high
