The case with ribbed bowed handle on S-scroll supports over a bow-fronted case set with Ionic pilasters and ribbed cornice, each of the two sides decorated with Commedia dell'arte figures in a formal garden, in richly coloured enamel on copper, their costumes with metallic effect highlights, the signed gilt Arabic dial with blued steel hands set over an alarm-setting dial within a pierced and engraved mask of flowerheads and foliage, the lever platform escapement with cut and compensated bimetallic balance striking and repeating the hours and the quarters on a pair of coiled blued steel gongs, with a selection lever to the underside offering the choice of Quarters or Silent 17cms (6.75ins) high.
