A YEAR GOING ASTRONOMICAL LONGCASE TIMEPIECE. WITH GOLDSMITH'S HALL EXHIBITION PROVENANCE.

The brass mounted rosewood veneered case with rectangular glazed hood and long trunk with glazed door, raised on a plinth base and brass mounted block feet, the interior fitted with a mirror.

The signed 5.5 inch silvered Roman dial with centre seconds, the centre fitted with a brass signature plate above a recessed winding square at IIII and another blank at VIII. The 8 inch astronomical dial with outer calendar and astrological tracks, the centre fitted with a rotating star map with solar and lunar positions, moonphase, age of moon, Greenwich Mean Time and nodal hands, mounted within a silvered mask.

The single chain fusee movement with large spring barrel, deadbeat escapement and epicyclic gearing to the astronomical train, with a cylindrical invar bob and rod. 175cm (5ft 9in)
