PILOT-NAMIKI: Bridge, River and Mountain Landscape Maki-e & Aogai Fountain Pen, Signed by Shogo, Grade A, c.1930
A-grade Pilot-Namiki fountain pen, in excellent condition, demonstrating outstanding aesthetics. Depicts a bridge over flowing river waters beneath looming Japanese mountains. Rendered in high-relief raised shishiai togidashi maki-e and togedashi maki-e, in gold powder and autumnal pigments on black urushi ground, with subtle aogai (mother-of-pearl) details and okibirame gold flake embellishment. The decoration extends to the nib section and feed. 127mm. Vest form with flat captop and endpiece. Endpiece marked "Made in Japan," 14K rolled gold cap ring, Namiki "lifebuoy" lever. 14K gold #3 Pilot heart-vent nib, decent flex. Signed by Shogo, Namiki's first master penmaker.
