    Faed was a product of the prodigious Scott Lauder generation of artists, which included Orchardson, Pettie, Chalmers, McTaggart and Graham. In 1864, he followed his brother Thomas in moving to London in pursuit of commissions and Academic recognition, while continuing to submit work for exhibition in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
    Haddon Hall near Bakewell in Derbyshire is one of England's most celebrated historic houses, built between the 12th and 17th Centuries. It is the seat of the Dukes of Rutland.
