Footnotes

  • 'Presentation to R. H. Harries, M.F.H. On Thursday the 16th [April], after the Point- to-Point races, Mr R. H. Harries. M.F.H., was ... presented with a beautiful vellum album containing an illuminated address and the autographs of the subscribers. The address was as follows:— TO ROBERT HENRY HARRIES, Eso. M.F.H. 1902-1914. We the undersigned Members of the Carmarthenshire Hunt Club and others desire to place on record our appreciation of your 12 years mastership of the Carmarthenshire Fox- hounds and further to testify to the good feel- ing which has existed at all times between you, the farmers, and the "field." The oil painting accompanying this album which we now present to you on your retirement, will, we trust, be a token of the esteem in which you have always been regarded, and bring back many happy recollections of the past, and be a record of the excellent sport you have always shown." Mr Harries, in acknowledging the presentation, spoke feelingly of the kindness he had received from the members and friends during his connection with the Hunt.'
Carmarthen weekly reporter, 24th April 1914.
