A Victorian diorama of a cutter yacht
British, 19th century
the hull built up in wood and painted with a red bottom and black topsides, the rail fitted with a mahogany cap rail fitted with stanchion pins and a rope life line. The deck is of veneer, scored to replicate deck planking, and fitted with: bow sprit brace, anchor windlass, anchors, chain, pin and fife rails, deck house fitted with port holes, open companionway, binnacle, finished cockpit interior, tufted bench cushions, rope twist carved tiller, lattice work stern deck detail, main sheet, coils of line and other details. Fitted with bowsprit, mainmast, boom and gaff, with standing and running rigging seized and finished, turning blocks, four sails shaped and detailed with jib hanks, mast rings, seam panels, a blue duster and the Royal Thames Yacht Club burgee, along with other details. Displayed as a diorama on a painted sea within a black painted base with gold painted decoration on the frame with a glass cover.
