An Ottoman kard
late 18th/early 19th century
Slender, straight 13 1/2 inch blade chiseled with three narrow ribs above a section of gold-overlaid spearpoint panels and banding. Silver-mounted hilt, the beaded rim set with small red coral cabochons. Marine ivory gripscales. Silver scabbard chased overall with scrolling florals and bands of repeating motifs.
Condition: Blade with scattered patches of light pitting. Hilt missing three of four rivet covers and several coral inlays. Scabbard with dents to tip.>br>See Illustration
