Renault Monaquatre 1.5 litre cabriolet 1934
Châssis n° 666109

•Rare modèle de Monaquatre cabriolet
•Restauration ancienne

1934 Renault Monaquatre 1½-Litre Cabriolet
Chassis no. 666109

•Rare Monaquatre cabriolet model
•An older restoration
•Present ownership since 1992
•Registered in Belgium

Introduced in 1932, the Renault Monaquatre used the same body as the existing Primaquatre model but was powered by a smaller four-cylinder engine displacing 1.3 litres, though this was soon increased to 1.5 litres. Power was transmitted to the road via a three-speed gearbox. Its maker advertised the 8CV Monaquatre as 'economical to buy and maintain', claiming a top speed in excess of 100km/h and fuel consumption of less than 9 litres per 100 kilometres. Four body styles were available, that offered here being the rare cabriolet version.

This rare Renault Monaquatre Cabriolet was extensively restored in the 1990s by the specialist restoration workshop, AMTRA. The car was stripped back to bare metal and fully overhauled, as evidenced by the accompanying restoration file of bills and photographs. The current vendor bought the car in 1992, immediately after its restoration, and has driven it on many journeys and rallies in Belgium and France. He advises us that it is very pleasant to drive and easy to maintain, and that it remains in good condition. Finished in blue/black with Bordeaux interior, the car is offered with Belgian registration papers.

Saleroom notices

  • Malgré une restauration ancienne, merci de bien vouloir noter qu'en raison d'un problème mineur avec la pompe à essence, nous n'avons pas pu démarrer la voiture Although benefitting from an older restoration, please note that a minor issue with the fuel pump has prevented us from running the car.
