1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III Phase II Convertible

Chassis no. HBJ8L/38874

Engine no. H13469

•Imported from California, USA
•The ultimate 'Big Healey'
•Restored condition
•Matching numbers

Dating from the final year of production and representing the iconic 'Big Healey' in its ultimate 'BJ8' Phase II incarnation, this stunning example was acquired from the estate of its enthusiastic American owner, who had carried out a thorough 'body-off' restoration over a five-year period. There are no records available; however it is clear that almost all aspects of the car received attention and that considerable effort went into bringing it to its current beautiful condition.

Noteworthy features include a new fabric-insulated wiring harness, modern starter motor, and rebuilt engine and gearbox. Cosmetically, the car presents very well, with excellent British Racing Green paintwork over straight panels with good fit, while the brightwork has been selectively re-plated. The bumpers have been re-chromed but other items such as the front grille, door top trims and window frames were in very good condition and did not need attention. The convertible hood was replaced and is in generally excellent condition, as are the wheels, lights and window glass. Likewise the interior, which is trimmed in black leather. The centre console is nicely restored and the instruments, controls, dashboard and carpets are all excellent; the interior woodwork, although serviceable, would benefit from professional refurbishment.

The engine compartment has been well restored and is very tidy and attractive. It is generally correct in its presentation, including the engine's metallic green paint finish. The boot is very nicely restored, with excellent trim, and contains a serviceable spare wheel. A hood bag is included in the sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a restored Phase II that is cosmetically excellent but not of a standard that would discourage the new owner from using it enthusiastically. Accompanying documentation consists of a State of California Certificate of Title, EU import papers, and current technical inspection.
