En 1929, la firme allemande NSU réussit à recruter l'ingénieur Walter Moore alors chez Norton. Moore avait créé la première machine réussie à 1 ACT de Norton, la CS1, si bien que personne ne fut surpris lorsque les modèles NSU Super Sport à arbre à cames en tête très « nortonesques » apparurent peu après. En 1932, NSU introduisit la série « O » des monocylindres à soupapes en tête conçues par Moore, série qui allait constituer l'essentiel de la production de NSU au milieu des années1930 en commençant par l'OS 350 de 1932. Les types OSL 201 de 198 cm3 et OSL 251 de 241 cm3 suivirent en 1933. Cette très belle OSL 251 qui est toujours restée aux mains de la même famille a été restaurée en 2001. La machine est accompagnée de ses papiers d'immatriculation autrichiens.

    In 1929, the German company NSU succeeded in recruiting designer Walter Moore from Norton. Moore had been responsible for Norton's first successful overhead-camshaft machine, the CS1, so it came as no surprise when distinctly Norton-esque 'cammy' NSU Super Sport models appeared a short time later. In 1932 NSU introduced the Moore-designed 'O' series of overhead-valve singles, which would form the mainstay of production in the mid-1930s, commencing with the 350 OS in 1932. 198cc 201 OSL and 241cc 251 OSL models followed in 1933. This beautiful 251 OSL has been in the same family's ownership all its life and was restored in 2001. The machine is offered with Austrian registration papers.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge what is known as a Buyer's Premium. Buyer's Premium on all Automobilia lots will adhere to Bonhams group policy:

25% up to £50,000 of hammer price,
20% from £50,001 to £1,000,000 of hammer price,
and 12% on the balance thereafter. This applies to each lot purchased and is subject to VAT.

For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 15% Buyer's Premium is payable on the first £50,000 of the final Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on any amount by which the Hammer Price exceeds £50,000. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.

Some lots may be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price. These lots will be clearly marked with the relevant symbol printed beside the lot number in the catalog.
