Jewelled engraved gilt 'Chinese Calibre' lever movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, three arm balance with blued steel weights, white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and outer 1/5th second divisions, blued steel spade hands and centre seconds, polished round case with fine multi-coloured champlevé enamel flower decoration to band and bow, later fine painted scene to the back depicting a junk at Whampoa anchorage, hinged exhibition cuvette, together with finely engraved gilt metal winding key, case numbered, movement signed
62mm.

    Bovet established their leading role in China Market since 1822, the period of Daoguang Emperor from the Qing Dynasty. The pocket watches brought by Edward Bovet from Switzerland soon became the Royal family and upper class's new symbol of wealth and taste.

    In order to align with Chinese's taste, The company then created a Chinese name as "Bo Wei", as well pocket watches decorated by enamel and Champleve in Chinoiserie style.
