Juvet was founded by renowned watch maker Edouard Juvet in Buttes, Switzerland in 1842. Starting from there, Juvet produced pokcet watches which charaterised the style of the Chinese emperor and Juvet soon became very popular among the royal families of the Qing Dynasty. In 1860, Juvet opened his first watch store in Shanghai followed later by shops in Beijing and Tianjing. Juvet pocket watches became a symbol of wealth and nobility.

Juvet created serveral collections in Chinoiserie motifs dedicated to the Chinese market. The Series represented the unique historical cultural background of China as well as the superior watchmaking techniques from Switzerland.
