Two wood netsuke
One by Masayoshi and the other after Kano Tomokazu, 19th century
The first of two fighting shishi, one rolling on its back, while the other sprawls over it, its long tongue protruding, one leg forming the himotoshi and another added himotoshi beneath, signed Masakata, 3.5cm (1 3/8in) wide; the second of a seated monkey, holding two batons to its head and a large persimmon on its folded legs, the eyes inlaid with two shades of horn, inscribed Tomokazu, 3.2cm (1¼in) high.
