MANUSCRIPT REPORTS ON THE STATUS OF VARIOUS EUROPEAN CLAIMS TO THE FRENCH THRONE. The last event mentioned is the marriage of Philip II of Spain to Mary I of England (in 1554). The second report covers the participation of the Dukes of Burgundy in the English-French conflict over the succession to the French throne in the 14th century, explaining how Edward III of England laid claim to it through his mother Isabella, sister to the last Capetian king of France. The remainder of the text includes discussions of the lands confiscated from French nobles who recognized Edward's claims, as well as other problems resulting from royal succession.
