Footnotes

    Provenance 來源:
    Somerset de Chair (1911-1995)

The simple, elegant carving of the present bowls allows the delicate tracery of the stone itself to form the decoration. The exceptionally thinly hollowed walls further allow light to shine through and enhance the decorative effect.

Compare a related pair of finely carved jadeite dishes in the Baur Collection, described as 'pale grey with whitish beige and mauve marbling' and with Qianlong seal marks, illustrated by P-F.Schneeburger, Chinese Jades and Other Hardstones, Geneva, 1976, no.B 1-2.

P-F.Schneeburger,《Chinese Jades and Other Hardstones》,日內瓦,1976年,編號B 1-2。
