A pale green and russet jade carving of a dog
Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th century
The dark celadon jade enhanced with white and russet inclusions and finely modelled as a crouching dog with bulging eyes under heavy brows looking towards the nose charmingly carved in the shape of a lingzhi fungus from a russet patch of stone, the body and legs powerfully formed with an archaistic scroll sweeping out from the front legs and the thick tail curling up towards the raised spine, wood stand.
