The machine offered here is one of the batch prepared in 1982 by the legendary Italian race shop NCR, in collaboration with the Ducati factory, to compete in the FIM's 'TT2' category for production-based motorcycles. This TT2 contested the Italian Championship from 1982 to 1984, achieving good results, and then was sold to the current vendor. After acquisition the engine was updated and checked by Giorgio Nepote (the 'N' of NCR), the frame, running gear and bodywork being left entirely original. Thus this machine incorporates all of the TT2 model's special parts including the Verlicchi frame, Campagnolo magnesium wheels and Marzocchi shock absorbers. The total weight is a mere 130 kilograms.

Also present are all of NCR's special engine parts including the 81mm forged pistons, special camshafts, oversize valves and 40.5mm carburettors. This particular machine also has NCR's dry clutch that originally would have been fitted only to the factory bikes. Since 1984, this TT2 has been used only to attend a few Ducati Club meetings, always in demonstrations and never in competition.

Saleroom notices

  • Since going to press the vendor has provided us with the following additional information: The first owner's name was Iaccheri, and it was he that bought the machine from Ducati and sent it to NCR for race preparation. The frame has been stamped with a Pantah serial number to enable the machine to be used on the road. The original magnesium front forks have been mislaid. The forks currently fitted are aluminium but of the same pattern as the originals.
