WRIGHT, FRANK LLOYD. 1867-1959. Typed Letter Signed ("Frank Lloyd Wright") and initialed ("FLLW")
WRIGHT, FRANK LLOYD. 1867-1959.
Typed Letter Signed ("Frank Lloyd Wright") and initialed ("FLLW") and dated "29" within red woodblock stamp, 1 p, 4to, August 3, 1929, Taliesin, Spring Green, Wisconsin, to Alexander J. Chandler, folding creases, pinholes in blank lower margin, rubbing to stamp.
WITH: Autograph Postcard Signed ("Frank Lloyd Wright") and initialed on front ("FLLW"), February 15, 1941, n.p., to James Markley, some blearing to ink, slight toning.

The letter is addressed to prominent Arizona developer Alexander Chandler, who commissioned Wright to design San Marcos in the Desert, a luxury resort in the Salt River Mountains south of Phoenix. In part: "We will discuss modifications to San Marcos in the Desert when I return to Arizona in November, 1929. San Marcos in the Desert will be magnificent." Though drawings for the resort were completed and estimates for construction made, the stock market crash killed the project.
The postcard is an invitation to dinner to James Markley, who had commissioned Wright in 1909 for the City National Bank and Park Inn Hotel in Mason City, Iowa.
