APOLLO 12 ASTRONAUT ALAN BEAN'S LIMITED EDITION 18K GOLD OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONAL CHRONOGRAPH WRISTWATCH
18K gold chronograph wristwatch with wine-coloured bezel and Omega 18k gold bracelet. Number 26 of 30 given to President Nixon, Vice President Agnew, and the Apollo Astronauts.
Signed Omega, Speedmaster Professional, Ref. BA 145.022, movement no. 26'55'023. 861 caliber copper-finished lever movement, 17 jewels, gilt protective cap, solid 18K gold dial, applied indexes in onyx encircled with polished gold rims, black hands, three engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours registers, wine-coloured bezel engraved for tachymetre scale, fluted lugs, 43 mm. diam. Case, dial, and movement signed. Screw back engraved:

"—Astronaut Alan Bean— to mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time. Skylab Mission II [III] Apollo 12."

ALAN BEAN'S handwritten provenance letter reads: "I hereby certify that the accompanying Gold Speedmaster Watch, engraved on the back, 'Astronaut Alan Bean,' 'To Mark Man's Conquest of Space with Time, Through Time, On Time,' 'Apollo 12,' 'Skylab Mission II,' was awarded to me by the Omega Watch Company in a ceremony in Houston shortly after the completion of the Apollo program. I have worn the watch over the years, particularly on special occasions."

The Omega Speedmaster Apollo XI model was created in the fall of 1969 to commemorate Apollo XI's successful moon landing on July 20 of the same year. Among the 1014 produced, the first 30 were offered to President Nixon, Vice-President Agnew, and to 28 astronauts, including Alan Bean at a gala dinner November 25, 1969 at Hotel Warwick in Houston.
