Sold for € 40,250 (US$ 47,442) inc. premium
The ex-Lohr/Kleinschmidt/Hürtgen/Duez, Nürburgring 24 Hours class-winning
1997 Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 Competition Roadster
Chassis no. WDB170.435-1F-002093
First registered in Germany in April 1997, this SLK roadster was converted to racing specification to compete in the 1999 Nürburgring 24 Hours race by the Mercedes-Benz tuning specialists Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH. Powered by the 2.0-litre engine, tuned to develop circa 240PS, the car was entered in the Roadster 2000 Class. 195 drivers from 18 nations were represented and the Carlsson-entered open SLK soon became a favourite with the spectators, not the least because it was driven by four of Europe's fastest lady racing drivers: Ellen Lohr, Jutta Kleinschmidt, Claudia Hürtgen and Florence Duez. After 24 hours of racing, during which time it ran like clockwork and needed only routine servicing, the Carlsson SLK finished 7th overall, winning the Roadster 2000 class and coming home ahead of all the other 2-litre cars.
Registered to the current owner since June 2004, the SLK entered three races at the Nürburgring that year in preparation for the 2005 24 Hours but did not take part. The car has not been raced since. There were no problems with the SLK when it was retired but obviously it would need re-commissioning before further use. The car is offered with DMSB papers and the original Fahrzeugbrief.
Ehemaliger Klassen-Sieger des Nürburgring 24-Stunden Rennens
Team: Lohr/Kleinschmidt/Hürtgen/Duez,
1997 Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 Competition Roadster
Fahrgestell-Nr. WDB170.435-1F-002093
