"Worth" Brehm was a highly admired American book and magazine illustrator best known for his drawings of boys for Booth Tarkington's Penrod and Sam (1916) and Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1923). He studied at the Herron Institute art school in Indianapolis and The Art Students' League in New York City, and taught at the National School of Art also in New York. His brother George Brehm was also a well known illustrator. This picture appeared in the magazine serialization of Penrod and Sam, but not in the published book.
