A diamond, sapphire and emerald bracelet, attributed to Louis Comfort Tiffany for Tiffany & Co., circa 1915-1925

Footnotes

  • This arts and crafts bracelet is reminiscent of jewelry produced under the direction of head designer Meta Overbeck for Louis Comfort Tiffany. The color palette, filigree and use of faceted stones were utilized in her creations. It would not be surprising to assume that Tiffany's famous gemologist George Frederick Kunz contributed his influence by picking the emeralds and sapphires set in this piece.

While this bracelet does not bear a signature, it distinctly embodies the design, quality, craftsmanship, sensibility and age of similar creations produced by Tiffany & Company in the 1920's. A nearly identical, watercolor, ink, and pencil drawing, complete with sketch and stock numbers, appears in an Overbeck's design book.
