Folio (280 x 173 mm). A-2Z2 3A1 4A-4T2 (-4T2 blank). 73 wood engraved anatomical plates in text. Modern quarter calf. Lacking all four folding plates, lacking 4T2 (final blank), margins of title and a several others restored, some scattered staining, a few marginal ships and short tears, tear to bottom edge of 2P2 extending to text and illustration, 3 cm hole to 4O2 with staining to following leaf.

FIRST ENGLISH EDITION of Institutiones Anatomicae [Leiden: 1641], Bartholin's revision of his father Caspar's classic anatomical text of 1611, Anatomicae institutiones. The work went through numerous editions over the years as the younger Bartholin revised the text to include recent medical discoveries, his own as well as those of others. Wing (2nd ed) B976; cf.
