    This belongs to a rare group of Anti-Jacobite glasses depicting William, Duke of Cumberland who defeated the Jacobite uprising at the Battle of Culloden. A related glass with a head and shoulder portrait was in the A.C.Hubbard Jr. Collection, sold in these rooms 30 November 2011, lot 70. Other examples from this rare group include a glass in the Cecil Higgins Museum illustrated by L.M.Bickerton, Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses (1986), no.919 and another in the Rose Collection, sold at Sotheby's, 6 March 1978, lot 51. Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
