ARGENTINA - RAILWAYS and TRAMWAYS
A finely bound album of "gratitude", presented to Charles H. Sanford, of the Anglo-Argentina Tramway Company, manuscript title in red and black ink within decorative border in form of trailing branch, stems and flowers incorporating 4 albumen print roundels of Sanford at the inauguration of the railway home for children, approximately 250 leaves printed in green and gilt, each infilled with 30 signatures per page (recto only), contemporary purple calf, ornate gilt metal lettering plaque (winged figures holding a cartouche with the monogram of "C.S.") on upper cover, g.e., white silked endpapers, folio, [Buenos Aires, 1919]; and a quantity of documents, printed and manuscript indentures (2 with pen and watercolour plans) and deeds, mostly relating to the Buenos Ayres and Campana Railway Company, 1870s-1900; and a couple of related books (quantity)

  • An elaborately bound and presented "tribute volume" presented to Charles Sanford, from "Los obreros y empleados de la Compania de Tramways Anglo-Argentina", on the occasion of his laying the foundation stone of a home he donated for the children of the employees of the Company. It has upwards of 2000 signatures.
