Of wide form, lacquered on one side on an okibirame ground with the poet Hitomaro seated in contemplation, in gold takamakie, his head and eboshi inlaid with gold and shibuichi, other details in aogai, the reverse bearing a brown ground, with an oni mixing ink, in gold lacquer, his head and limbs of gilt metal, the interior of nashiji, signed horimono Masayuki, makie Shigetsugu (metal carving by Masayoshi, makie by Shigetsugu); with red glass ojime. 7cm (2¾in).

and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.
