By Shigetsugu and Hamano Masayuki, 18th/19th century
Bearing a roiro ground, lacquered and inlaid with Toba riding side-saddle on his mule past a stand of bamboo, in shades of gold takamakie with an inlaid aogai saddle cloth and his head inlaid with shibuichi, the interior of black lacquer with kinji edges, signed for the lacquer makie Shigetsugu and for the metal inlay Masayuki; with cloisonné enamel ojime. 7cm (2¾in).

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
