Ink on paper, couplet mounted for framing, calligraphic inscription dated wuchen (1928), and signed Sijian Zhuang Yunkuan followed by two rectangular relief seals of the artist reading Zhuang Yunkuan yin, Sijian chang shou.

  • Zhuang Yunkuan (Baohong) was born in Wujin in 1866. An important political figure, he served as Interim Commander-in-chief of Jiangsu Province during the Xinhai Revolution. Later he was one of the founders of the Palace Museum in Beijing, and he served as the director of the Palace Museum library.
