Hugong, the Master the Bottle, is the main character in an old story (from the Later Han documents, presented to the throne in 445 C. E.) about an exiled immortal who sold medicine in the marketplace and was able to shrink himself small enough to enter the gourd he carried with him; inside was a fairyland of terraces and palaces.

The name on the bottom of the bottle continues to frustrate our attempts to interpret it.
