Bimota's not inconsiderable reputation rests on its creation of some of the fastest and most exclusive sports bikes ever seen. Equipped with nothing less than the very best suspension and brakes, Bimotas were necessarily expensive but then, like George Brough, it was never the firm's intention to build anything compromised by budgetary restrictions. Announced at the Milan Show in 1993, the SB7 used a Bimota-modified version of the Suzuki GSX-R750SP engine and was intended to spearhead the Rimini firm's attack on the World Superbike Championship. Effectively a 'homologation special', the SB7 was priced accordingly - in the UK it cost around £20,000, as much as a Honda RC45 - and sold in limited numbers, only 200 being made. First registered on 26th May 1994 to John Miller of Greenwich, South London, this particular SB7 was previously modified for racing and took part in the 1st round of the British Supercup Championship at Donington Park in April 1995. It subsequently featured in Fast Bikes magazine (May '95 edition, copy available). We are advised that rider Dave Pickworth has confirmed that this is his bike. Modifications for racing included upgrading the forks with a pre-load kit and titanium nitrided stanchions; shaving 1½lb off the crankshaft; adding an extra clutch plate; and using titanium for the wheel spindles, steering column and various fastenings. Marchesini magnesium wheels and Stack instruments were fitted and the frame and swinging arm anodised purple.

Sometime later the Bimota was made suitable for road use by fitting lights, indicators, etc. All parts removed are included in the sale together with some spares and accessories. These comprise the fuel injection system, wiring harness, alternative rear suspension springs, Stack instrumentation, brake discs, tyre warmers and carbon fibre air intake. Currently displaying a total of only 4,707 kilometres on the odometer and not used for some time, 'L316 APB' will require re-commissioning before returning to the road. The machine is described as in generally good condition and offered with Swansea V5C registration document.
