1979 Chevrolet Corvette 'Targa' Coupé
Chassis no. 1Z8789S406086
Engine no. 107562499
Originally fitted with the 350ci (5.7-litre) engine, this much-modified Corvette is powered by a tuned 7.4-litre V8 engine featuring 4-barrel carburettor, Edelbrock inlet manifold, fabricated exhaust manifolds and numerous internal improvements, driving via a competition clutch to a five-speed manual gearbox. The up-rated running gear includes race-modified suspension incorporating rose-joints and adjustable Spax shock absorbers, these extensive modifications, we understand, being carried out while the car belonged to an engineer working for a Formula 1 racing team.
This particular Corvette was purchased by the immediately preceding owner at Bonhams' Harrogate Sale in November 2001 (Lot 487) since when it has been serviced and maintained by IK Classics of Jackson Bridge, West Yorkshire (invoices estimated to total some £7,000 are on file). Finished in red with beige leather interior, the car is offered with UK current road fund licence, MoT to June 2012 and V5 document for the registration 'BRX 157T'. A rare opportunity to acquire a stunning looking vehicle possessing supercar performance - and handling to match - at a bargain price.
