ILLUMINATED BIBLE LEAF.
Illuminated Latin manuscript on vellum, [Paris, c.1330]. Single leaf, double column, 46 lines, brown ink, small folio, written space 190 x 120 mm, recto with one 2-line initial in blue, red and white on gold ground and full-length extension; headers on recto and verso in blue and gilt with blue and red penwork.
This leaf is from the St. Albans Abbey Bible (sold in incomplete condition at Sotheby's in 1964), being I Kings 21-22. It was produced by a Parisian workshop of the Pucelle circle. See the article by C. de Hamel in the festschrift for Alan G. Thomas: Fine Books and Book Collecting, 1981.
