A rare 12 gauge A-1 Special Parker Brothers boxlock shotgun two barrel set
Serial no. 137485 for 1905, 12 gauge. Two sets of 30 inch barrels, the matte vent ribs marked No. 1 Special Parker Bros. Makers. Meriden, Conn. Whitworth Steel. Single silver beads. Breeches with 2 1/4 inch panels chiseled with floral scrolls and blossoms on a pebbled ground. The second set of barrels additionally marked WK for Walter King. Ejectors. Automatic safety. Double triggers. Jeweled breech face, water table, fore-end flats and barrel flats. No. 2 frame. Fences chiseled in relief with scrollwork and fleur-de-lys above three tapered ribs. Lever engraved and chiseled in relief with florals. Action chiseled in relief with floral meander on a pebbled ground within narrow leafage borders; both sides with Parker Bros in relief. Triggerguard with one diamond-shaped and two lozenge-shaped piercings within panels of low relief leaves and blossoms. Splinter fore-ends and pistolgrip stock of dark, figured walnut finely checkered with fleur-de-lys panels. Fore-end with engraved furniture. Gold and horn pistolgrip cap engraved Aug 15/1915/J. Kiernan/Hubbard. White Line brown rubber buttpad.
Condition: Fine as partially redone. One barrel with reblued finish showing some slight rubbing to markings, the other probably not reblued also. Bright tubes. Action with smooth, clean metal showing sharp decoration. Triggers with traces of gilt finish. Triggerguard with traces of blue finish on interior surface. Sound wood, the buttstock with scattered light scratches; generally sharp checkering, one fore-end with small area of light wear, the right side of the wrist with small area of wear/residue.
