An Ottoman miquelet tufek carbine
The 25 1/2 inch octagonal watered steel barrel with seven groove rifling in .46 caliber; swamped muzzle with copper fore-sight above a chiseled scrolling panel; breech with conforming panel, struck with a maker's mark; four aperture peep sight. Miquelet lock of typical form, faced with silver and set with silver pins, the finial and rear of lock set with beads. Figured wood stock inlaid around the lock and on the sighting flat with scrolling green-stained bone panels set with brass pins and brass and black enamel roundels; buttstock of hexagonal section inlaid with banding in light and dark wood framing geometric panels of bone and mother-of-pearl. Left side of fore-end with German silver sling swivels.
Condition: Very good. Barrel showing fine watered pattern with some light wear. Stock generally clean but with crack and some chipping at forward sling swivel.
