A French other ranks shako for the Garde Nationale
circa 1830
The black beaver rouleau shako with black leather top and brim and white tape trim and piping; front with white cord galloons, grey metal button, painted metal cocade and brass ordnance grenade insignia., the back with brass, ring-mounted vent. Red horsehair plume. Interior retaining the nine-finger black leather sweatband/liner and the black leather chinstrap. Interior of crown with small section of label.
Condition: Showing slight deformation and slight areas of wear to exterior. Lining/sweatband and leather piping showing wear, staining and some small tears. Brim partially detached but liner, etc. very complete.
