A fine 19th century full suit of armor in early 16th century style
Comprising: 1) Close helmet of armet type; skull with roped comb flanked on either side by three tapered gilt ribs, back with ribbed gilt roundel, the edges pierced; visor with roped comb and brow, sights with gilt rims worked as pierced half-circles; circular, oval and rectangular breaths; hinged cheekpieces overlapping at the chin, the sides with pierced gilt panels, the lower edge roped, pierced and fitted with a van dyked mail fringe. 2) Hinged gorget, the upper edge roped. 3) Breastplate with strongly roped upper rim and gilt and fluted central ridge; fauld of two plates with tassets of three plates, the upper edges all worked with decorative notches and small palmettes, the lower plates with strongly roped rims within gilt borders. 4) Backplate and garde rein en suite 5) Full leg and arms defenses all en suite with gilt ribbed panels and decorative notching. The whole well articulated and mounted on an armature with rectangular wooden base.
Condition: Showing some areas of light pitting. Breastplate in need of releathering.
