An Edward VII officer's sword for the 17th Lancers by Wilkinson
The 35 inch blade numbered 39207 with 19 inch panel etched with strapwork, one side with crown and Royal coat-of-arms and regimental title and crest, the reverse with crown and Royal cipher above owner's monogram surmounted by a crest, a demi-lion erased reguardant holding between it's paws a boar's head, this above the Wilkinson maker's marks. Nickel-plated Pattern 1896 hilt, the checkered horn grip bound with four strands of slender twisted silver wire. Iron two-ring scabbard with German silver throat.
Condition: Blade fine and showing minor spotting. Hilt retains perhaps 35-40% of plated finish. Grip fine. Scabbard with mottled grey metal, areas of light pitting and several deep dents and partial tear 12 inches above drag.
