dated "9-6-42," Kings Features Syndicate, pen and ink on illustration board, signed lower right by the artist, matted; together with a pamphlet entitled The Cartoonist National Cartoonists Society, 1956.
This cartoon was originally owned by James C. Raymond , the younger brother of Alex Raymond. The drawing was given to James Raymond by Kings Features in the 1970s when it was discovered that he did not own any of his brother's work. He had it on the wall of his studio until his death. While Alex worked on Flash Gordon, Jim worked with Chic Young on the Blondie cartoon strip. The two young men financially supported their mother through the depression when their father, a successful ad man, died unexpectedly.
