An original Jimi Hendrix painting
Watercolor on black paper painting titled "Flower Demon," affixed to wooden dowel rods to create the affect of a scroll. The painting is professionally mounted and framed in a shadow box frame. The painting is thought to be the only known watercolor by Hendrix.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Donovan remembers seeing the painting soon after it was executed, and recently had this to say about the piece:
"That day in the Wimbledon flat I shared with Gypsy Dave [Mills], Jimi was visiting. Jimi and I stood looking at his painting on the wall. Jimi had gifted it to Gyp's wife, Yvonne .
"I was immediately struck by the skillful balance of colour values and I told him this. Jimi said he used to paint like this as a kid, and this one just came out now.
" I saw it had been done as fast as calligraphy yet so much had emerged from deep within.
"Seeing it all these years later, the image is clearly polymorphic ... with Man and his Gods ... the Mask, the Eye and the Horns."
