An impressive Royal Worcester fruit painted ewer, painted by William Hawkins
Dated 1898
Of classical form, the lobed body standing on a pedestal stem with circular socle base, the high handle modelled with scrolling acanthus leaves and the spout with elaborate mask terminal, the body beautifully painted with four gilt line vignettes, painted with apples and grapes, pomegranate and blackberries, apples and strawberries and apples and pears, reserved against a Bleu-Celeste ground and richly decorated with foliate sprigs and flowers; 38cm high, puce printed mark and pattern number 1179.
